Hefeweizen (5.0% abv)- Traditionally brewed German-style Wheat beer. Brewed with German Wheat and Pilsner malts and hopped with German noble hops. Clove and banana flavors from the yeast with a slight haze and golden color appearance.

Pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Sweet aroma of banana and wheat. Flavor is malty and fruity with hints of banana, esters, wheat, spices, clover, and fruit. Medium body with medium carbonation. Superb Hefeweizen.

On draught at the GTMW ’10 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy golden colored brew with a decent sized white head that slowly dissipates to a white ring and excellent lacing. Aroma of banana esters, a hint of cloves, vanilla and a touch of golden grain malt, Taste is medium to full bodied, flavors of banana esters, bubble gum, some clove and golden grain malt. Finish is semi-sweet with a quickly banana/yeast aftertaste that disappears.

Banan esters on the nose. Gold color. Smooth with the flavors I’d expect of a hefe. Nice.

On tap at the brewpub in New Brighton, Mn - slightly murky, medium copper pour with a sticky off white head that leaves good lacing. Lots of fresh cloves in the aroma with a back end of banana. Chewy flavor with plenty of esters, banana pudding, and bubble gum. Very flavorful hefe with a thick creamy mouthfeel. A most excellent brewpub hefe.

This is definitely now one of my top 5 beers. The flavor is light and sweet. There is a light taste of bananas. This is only the second hefeweizen I have had (the other being New Glarus Dancing Man Wheat which was also awesome). Barley John’s is an awesome brew pub.
