COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of the classic Flanderís Sour Red Ales, Rev. Red is our second sour offering brewed outside the restaurant to get the special taste of Minnesota wild yeast. This beer has a complex yeast team working to create something truly special. Very sour, very complex, and very limited. We only have a few kegs of this beer, so after the initial run weíre going to sock the rest away, and youíll see them pop up now and againÖ so keep your eyes peeled! Malts Used: Munich, Crystal, CaraVienne, Special B, Wheat, Flaked Maize Hops Used: Mt. Rainier, Celeia Yeast: Leuven Pale Ale, French Saison, Brettanomyces bruxellensis, Brettanomyces bruxellensis Trios Blend, Brettanomyces lambicus, Peddiococcus, Lactobacillus, Minnesota Biota

Nice interpretation of a Flanders Red. Too often these beers are thin and one dimensional, this beer takes the style to another level. Caution, if you are new to acidic & sour beers, you might want to pass on this one. Try a Rodenbach instead. Cherry pie, rhubarb, and peach accompany the acetic (vinegar) acid. Bold and refreshing. I can handle only one of these, and that is a good thing.

Draft at the source. The most intense sour of all sours ive had. Honestly, i lost my notes for this one but all i remember is it was super sour.

Tap at Barley Johnís. Pours light red with small off-white head. Nose has bright characteristic sourness, some mild acidic notes and just a hint of vinegar. Taste is mouth puckeringly sour, a lively (living?) sourness with layers of rich vinegar-like flavors, tart fruit notes and a nice level of malty sweetness. I wasnít expecting such a solid rendition of this style from BJís, but they knocked it out of the park. I can definitely have more than one but these are robustly sour sippers.

Sampled on tap at Barley Johns. Pours a copper red color with white head. Very strong sour and vinegar aromas and flavors. This was way too strong and sour for my taste, but it was cool to try.

Wow, what a beer. This is probably the most intense sour Iíve ever sampled. Looks like your standard flemish red, and the aroma doesnít really give away the intensity of the flavor, but once you take a sip, it is clearly pretty unique. Some of the usual flavors are there - cherry, plum etc. but the level of sourness here is of the charts. It starts with a solidly sour lactic note, but what impressed me most was how long the sourness lingers and evolves on the tongue, with waves of balsamic vinegar and savory funk lasting for the entire drawn out finish. I donít think I would want more than one of these, but damn, this is a great beer.

Tap at the brewpub - rating #4000. Orange pour with a large creamy head. Huge vinegar aroma and taste. Fruity, but very sour and aggressive.

September 15, 2012 on tap at the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis. Orange brown pour with lots of head that lasted and lacing. Vinegar and sour funk in aroma and taste.

Had this at the 2012 Autumn Brew Review. Extreme vinegar scent and taste, definitely something wrong.

Tap @ Barley Johns. Pours a hazy reddish orange appearance with a white head. Rich vinegar, cherry Juicy Juice, funky, frothy, herbal aroma. Super intensely sour, cherry, balsamic vinegar, herbal, tree sap, burningly sour flavor. Extremely zippy. Flavor is decent but the extreme sourness overpowers everything. The sourness here really rivals Old Growth and the strongest sours Iíve ever had.

On tap at Barley Johns. Pours hazy amber with a tight khaki foamy looking head that slowly settles with spotty lacing. Aroma is balsamic vinegar and plenty sour/funk. Taste is awesome puckering sourness with balsamic vinegar lactic and funk with dill pickle mixed in there as well. Palate is full and slick with a drying lactic finish. This is by far the sourest beer I have had to date! Loved it!
