This was my second ale and I think the better of the two I tried. The RyePA was consumed in a small 8oz glass. The head was creamy foam with small bubbles. The head reminds you of Guinness. The deep amber color was very inviting. The rye malts was well balanced with the hops. The rye malts have a lighter flavor than the barley. The finish was smooth with some slight bitterness.

On tap at Barley Johns brewpub. Copper with a creamy taupe protectorate and a thick ring of lace. Aroma of rye, caramel, toasted malt and mild fruity hops. Taste of rye and grains along with fruit, floral hops and some sweet malt. A touch dry and mildly bitter.

Growler to snifter. Pours copper with a quick little off white head that settles to a thin film and some lacing. Aroma is bready and sweet caramel with a soft hop scent. Taste is bitter spruce and florals with bready caramel sweetness. Palate is medium and sticky with a soft carbonation that finishes chaulky. Not bad!

Tap. Clear orange amber pour with an awesome frothy clingy white head. Huge rye on the nose plus some bready malts. Palate is lighter yet creamy. Assertive hop taste with plenty of rye again coming out. Delicious.

Sampled this at ABR. Going off of memory, I recall a lot of hoppyness and a lot of rye. Too much so if you aren’t used to it. But, to those who are, a very nice brew!
