Named after a flock of ravens, this is the beer that started it all for us.

This assertively hopped medium-bodied American Black Ale exudes a combination of woodsy and grapefruit hop notes, blended together with a complex dark malt character and subtle hints of chocolate and coffee.

This beer isn’t for the weak of palate or heart.

Growler shared at Cajun Cafe on the Bayou during RBWG 2015. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. Good roasted malt character, burnt pine. Great balance. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Scorched earth bitterness on the finish, lots of baking cocoa, charcoal, pine. Very solid.

Draft at the brew pub. Pitch black in color with thin head. Aroma is mild pine needles, with moderate roast. Body is ok, medium leaning on fuller. The pine lingers for a good duration after the sip and provides the bitterness in the brew. Straight forward Black IPA.

Tap at Engine 15 brewery bar, Jacksonville. Light aroma - not much going on aside from very light maltiness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Some lemon some choc and coffee but it's thin watery and pretty dull. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler poured up on tap at the Cajun Café stop of the rbwg2015 brewery bus tour where it exhibits a nice deep dark body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate, black licorice spiciness, candi sugar and then a thin layer of pine hops. The taste starts with malts, dark roasted malts that have a burnt malty edge and some pine hops. I like the play between the chocolate and piny woody resiny hops. Solid

growler Sweet malts with faint dark roasted malts. The dark roast and some hops appear in the taste. Oddly, given the sweet aroma, this has a bit more char than I prefer. Black IPL? .. at least a black APA. Earthy and herbal hops in the finish and aftertaste.

Taste from a growler during RBWG. Black color. Good tan head, leaving thicker lace. Nice moderate roast, earthy hop, mild spiciness. Touch of dark chocolate, very mild hint of coffee. Some herbal. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation, good full feel. Moderate sweet taste, moderate bitter. Nice chewiness. Great, balanced black IPA.
