Named after a flock of ravens, this is the beer that started it all for us.

This assertively hopped medium-bodied American Black Ale exudes a combination of woodsy and grapefruit hop notes, blended together with a complex dark malt character and subtle hints of chocolate and coffee.

This beer isn’t for the weak of palate or heart.

growler Sweet malts with faint dark roasted malts. The dark roast and some hops appear in the taste. Oddly, given the sweet aroma, this has a bit more char than I prefer. Black IPL? .. at least a black APA. Earthy and herbal hops in the finish and aftertaste.

Taste from a growler during RBWG. Black color. Good tan head, leaving thicker lace. Nice moderate roast, earthy hop, mild spiciness. Touch of dark chocolate, very mild hint of coffee. Some herbal. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation, good full feel. Moderate sweet taste, moderate bitter. Nice chewiness. Great, balanced black IPA.

Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is citrus rind and mellow chocolaty malts. Taste is substantial roasted malts with the hoppy bitterness kicking in at the mid and going for a long easy bitter finish. While not super complex, very tasty.

Deep root beer black. Filmy light tan foam. Nice roasted aroma. Pleasantly bitter from roast and hops but not a wallop. Parched chicory and soy nuts. Dry. Medium body. Fair, but not that entertaining. On tap, Proof Production Facility.

Draft... Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival 2014... Pours midnight-black with a small, creamy, lightly tanned head. Good retention. The nose features dank, hempen hops and dark, burnt malts. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor is carbonic and malty but is much more bitter than sweet. Resin-like hop bill. Finishes burnt and bitter. This style doesn’t tickly my taint, but this is good for a black IPA.
