COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer that Barley Mow is known for. We started with a ton of hops in the beginning of the boil, then we added a lot more, then we dry-hopped the crap out of it. It’s dark, but don’t be fooled, there’s very little roast.

This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of citric hops and dark roast. Flavor was a bit astringent with clashing bitterness but decent hop flavor.

Growler from the source. Smells like dirt- guess some refer to that as earthy hops . Metallic taste. Not smooth. Looks great. Their signature beer per bartender but, imo, not near their best.

Draft - Light roast and earthy hops. Jet black with a rich brown head. Roast notes and pine with a big bitterness. Well balanced between roast and hops, bitterness in finish is a bit much though.

Clear brown pour, beige head. Dry and roasty, hoppy. Flavors mix pretty well in this. Not bad for the style.

Nice local effort! Floral aroma with hoppy notes. High profile hoppy flavor. Has a dry finish. Definitely drink again.

Sampled draught as part of a flight at the brewpub on January 19, 2014.
As "The Unkindness Hoppy Black" listed as 7.5% ABV.
Clear dark brown to black color, tan head. Roasted, dry, grainy, hoppy taste. Roasted aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, high bitterness. Roasted scent, a bit sweet.

Poured from a can into a tulip. Not quite as hoppy as I was expecting. Also roaster than I was expecting. Honestly, to me, seemed less a black IPA than a happier porter. Good mouthfeel and easy drinking. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mild fruity pebbles hops, triple C's. Old bread crumbs take away from hop profile. Malt body is appropriate for Black IPA. Solid, could be more pronounced.

On draft at Barley Mow. Pours a hazy porter/ stout brown with an off-white head. Nose is some mild roast, big resiny and grapefruity flavors follow. Flavor is similar with some mild roast, some baker’s chocolate, and big pine and white grapefruit punch. Medium in body and an interesting black IPA overall.
