3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, - MAY 5, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2010 Draft, Alibi Room. Amber and cloudy. Herbal, piney hop aroma with nice balancing pale malts. Soft and smooth with citrusy, refreshing hops. Nice, balanced example even better than I remember. 7-4-8-4-16 = 3.9
Draft @ brewpub, 2007. Golden-amber colour. Sadly, the head doesn’t hold either to itself nor to the glass. Fruity, woody hop aroma (pine, pamplemousse) with slight crystal/caramel malt as well. The body is a bit thin (again!), but it works better with the Pale, unleashing a lot of hoppy dryness. Almost leathery, piney, pamplemousse & dalandan citrus. The backing malts are still there, with a breadcrusty accent. 7-3-7-3-14 = 3.4
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (2159) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 16, 2011
Pint on tap while at the brewpub pours a golden orangey color with a small white head and some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is earthy and floral hops and some lightly toasted malts. Taste is a modest hoppy bitterness and some citrusy notes and an underlying malty sweetness. This is borderline close to an IPA and has nicely balanced flavors. Very much appreciated sampling this one.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 gramity (601) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 3, 2011
A strongly hoppy nose. On tasting, a mild hops start becomes stronger but not overbearing at the end. A mild body keeps this beer light and refreshing. This Pale Ale is walking fairly close to the IPA line.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beershine (4710) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - FEB 20, 2010
Draft @ Alibi room. Orange and bright with slight haze and a cask head. Earthy and floral aroma. The flavors are very fruity. Has a great balance and a nice hoppy finish. Very good APA!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1697) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 25, 2009
On tap. Light orange brew with a messy white cap. Fruity (apricot, orange, strawberry), nondescript malts that lack a solid backbone, still, it is a bit interesting.
Back of the mouth spicy flavours, lots of hops, almost leafy, bit of spruce, orange, apple, weak grapefruit, ok malts. Medium bodied with a nice soft bitter finish. I like this and with a bit more work this could become their flagship brew.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crit (2841) - New Westminster, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 20, 2008
Hazy amber, loose fast fading beige head. Citrusy, light cat pissy nose.Medium citrus hop profile, astringent finish.
Lacks carbonation, even for a cask
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 crazychuck (16) - CANADA - JUL 19, 2008
A strongly hoppy nose. On tasting, a mild hops start becomes stronger but not overbearing at the end. A mild body keeps this beer light and refreshing.
4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 CCCP (16) - , British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 19, 2008
Had this one at Central City’s Cask Festival and in my opinion it was the class of the show. Faintly cloudy, bright amber, with a very subtle ale nose. Big grapefruit start that carries through. Great Flavour. Great beer.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 10, 2007
(Draught) Sampled at the Great Canadian Beer Festival 2007 in Victoria on September 7th, 2007. Good hop aroma. Mixed 5-Alive flavour with a hop cantaloupe.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 presario (4133) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - APR 22, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2007 Went back two weeks later and had a full pint. Excellent beer. Some would class it as a IPA.
Stu said that this had smoothed out from initial samples. Dark gold. Rich hop spice nose. Strong hop flavour. Their best beer IMO. Good malt balance. A sample glass is simply not enough.
