2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Scopey (3243) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle at CGarvie tasting. It pours pale yellow with a small white head. The nose is sherbet, apple, sweet pear, orange and floral notes. The nose is quite light, sherbet, straw, apple, pear, honey and floral notes with a sweet finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. A bit light for the style and too sweet for my tastes.

T: green apples, lemon, lactic tartness, tannins from oak present
P: medium body, tart, persistent carbonation
Overall excellent Belgian golden ale, the barrel completely transforms this into a sour beer I would consider the sourness on this beer to a Flanders red, base beer was excellent and barrel aging this makes it a great beer

Carried home from Italy, April 2009, where I bought it at Johnny’s Off License in Rome, and shared June 2011. Very nice, opaque bright orange color. A great looking beer. Big, rocky, pillow-like, white head. Light sweet with yeast, strong earthy quality with dirt and grass. Very light spice. A good beer.

Sampeld from 500 ml bottle shared by jk. Pours a semi-hazy golden amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, a hint of toffee, dried apricots, and some floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of toasted caramel malt, some dried coriander and clove. Finish is semi-dry with a caramel and toast crust aftertaste that slowly disappears.
