RCL (1001), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Apr 29, 2006 Just a great Imp Stout. Does seem a tiny bit light, but not necessarily in a bad way; more of a "I could drink this all night" way.
estoppel (1014), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 31, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Black body, small tan head, slightly roasty and sweet nose. Sweet, roasty coffee/chocolate, relatively light mouthfeel for sweetness level, not ridiculously thick as so many examples are. AleDude (22), USA Apr 13, 2008 My favorite stout at Barleys. Deep black color with surprisingly light colored head. Very smooth and drinkable with a coffee flavor that is not too strong. JCB (1001), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 30, 2008 Growler from the brewery, enjoyed with a beer-lovin’ pal over some Sweet 16 games. Nice looking brew with a powerfully roasty aroma. Thick, resinous, and smooth body, an easy drinker too (wonder what the ABV is?). Complex malts wend their way through the more dominant coffee and cocoa flavors. Body’s a bit thin, but this is a good one. Drjohnrock (94), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 13, 2007 Draft sampler at Barleys Smokehouse (Ale House #2). Dark, almost opaque brown color, sweet malty aroma, deep rich malty flavor with some coffee notes.
Another fine beer from Barleys. Judging from past visits to Ale House #1, and the eight beer sampler I had on this trip (August 2007), I wonder if Barleys is capable of making a bad beer. Ty5592 (1009), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2007 From growler. Drunk 6/2. Dark brown almost black with nice sized head. Coffee aroma with nice roasted notes. The taste was the same with lite sweetness. Smooth on the palate. Thinner body.
