12/3/05: Growler from the Smokehouse. Slight sugar with a malt nose. Light golden yellow-gold body. Very Belgium-like taste with notes of floral, esters/phenolics and yeast. Clean finish. Yet, I did not taste any blueberry in this beer.

On tap at Alehouse No. 2. Deep golden ale with a thin white head. I did not get much blueberry out of this beer, and if I didn’t know it was blueberry I would have had trouble identifying that subtle flavor. Nose was floral. Honey sweetness with what could have been just the flowers of the blueberry to give flavor. I got something vegital in it. It is an interesting beer, and very sublte on the fruit. If you want a blueberry beer, don’t get this.

Pint on draft at the smokehouse - Poured a cloudy golden amber with a quick fading white head. Aroma is light haylike hops and just a touch of that blueberry. The flavor is nice for a fruit beer.. A honey sweet malt profile dominates this beer. The blueberry flavor is in the back and definitely doesn’t overwhelm it... Fairly clean finish for a fruit beer with some brief hops. This wasn’t too bad and for $2.50 a pint at happy hour I could drink this with my wings anytime..
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ultraspank (867) - Dublin, Ohio, USA - OCT 10, 2005
Light notes of blueberry accompany aromas of hemlock and perfume indicative of a happy hops presence. Pours a cloudy clover honey amber. The tall frothy white head is mostly lasting with light lace. The brew starts malty with a sweet middle. Light blueberry character appears as the brew warms. The finish is abrupt with a little alcoholic warmth. The light to medium body is creamy and lively with a slightly cloying feel to the finish. Perfect for a fruit beer, subtle.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 17, 2005
On tap at the Smokehouse. Pale golden color with noticeable carbonation and a thin white head. Very little lacing. Light hops and blueberry aroma. Light-bodied and bubbly with the blueberry flavor surprisingly subdued. There is really only the merest suggestion of the fruit, as well as a small amount of malt and hops. The finish is straightforward and clean with a bit of blueberry and hops. Overall a decent fruit beer, but putting aside the novelty there is not much to make it stand out.
