Gunshy (479), Ohio, USA Jun 19, 2002 Updated: Mar 25, 2003Okay, this beer is one they don't offer all the time, but rotate it more than some of their other ones. It is a beautiful amber read color. Not much of a head to it. Wonderful body to it. Slightly sweet, but can't place the flavor. A great tasting beer. Some followers of this style may find it too sweet, but I consider it one of their better beers.
Wakie (612), Centreville, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2003 A nice ruby brown ale w/ a light aroma of butterscotch. Sure enough that is the taste as well. Fantastic scotch ale. It slides down the back of your throat easily and leaves the delightful taste of sweet malt in your mouth. AleDude (23), USA Apr 13, 2008 A powerful scotch ale with a deep copper color and thin head. It has a medium body and a slight sweetness that helps fight off a strong alcohol taste. A good beer -- I get it whenever it is available. Darkover (1214), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 6, 2006 Light red color with almost no head. Aroma of caramel malt. Flavor of caramel malt and tangy hops. Pretty drinkable with some hops in the finish. Dogbrick (2266), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 8, 2002 Updated: Jun 18, 2003Rerate 06/17/03: Tried the cask-conditioned version of this and I liked it a lot. Served in a snifter. Pours a dark orangish-brown color with a thin beige head. Pleasantly heady malt and alcohol aroma. Nice full flavors of malt, caramel and a little spice. This is a very smooth beer, one that goes well with a meal or as a session beer. Worth trying if you can get it while it is in rotation. I still like the Robert Burns more though. 04/08/02 (3.2): Served at room temperature, this is a beer to be taken slowly. Not as good as their Robert Burns, it had a bit of a syrupy texture to it. Still not a bad offering though. A good dessert beer.
