A powerful scotch ale with a deep copper color and thin head. It has a medium body and a slight sweetness that helps fight off a strong alcohol taste. A good beer -- I get it whenever it is available.

Jun 18, 2008 Of a series of Scotch ales. This wee eavy is lighter, carmel, peat, orange colour and some lace. Some carmel and peat in there. A hint of the orange taste. I liked this because of the peatiness.

Jun 5, 2008 Sample @ the brewpub (No. 1): Pours a caramel brown with thin head. Aroma is toasted caramel malts and alcohol. Akin to their scottish ale, this is like adding half as many more malts, a tinge more sugar, and a lot more alcohol. Just mildly bitter.

Mar 27, 2008 On cask at the Alehouse. Pours a deep cloudy ruby color with a nice compact foamy white head on top. Super malty aroma. Deep, thick barley, sweet caramel. Just like their other Scotch ale this smells like sticking your face in a mash tun. Taste is smooth, thick, with sweet, bready malts, low bitterness, full bodied though drinkable. The cask does nice things to this beer. A very good beer. Barley’s really knows how to do Scottish/British styles well.

dark copper, strong malt aroma with a hint of sweetness, medium body, rich malt flavor, but not too sweet, subtle alcoholic warmth, just a hint of bitterness in the finish
