COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year, we've got an experimental firkin that we're calling Hobgoblin Pale Ale. If you like it, it may be the starting point of yet another new brew at Barley's. Or, once it's gone, we may never do it again. Be a part of history, and quaff this elixir, then let us know what you think.

Really good pale ale I found at the red lion. Served on tab it was really smooth and flavorful. The first I had from this brewery ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

10/26/07: Firk! @ Smokehouse
Brown-orange body with a yellow-almond colored lace which is xtra’ small, creamy and thick. Aroma is quite potent – vanilla & medicinal. Flavor is very spicy – cinnamon, clove, allspice (loads), nutmeg and some citrus. Glad I finally got a chance to try this one.

Hazy dark amber with a small head. Aroma of citrus hops and cinnamon. Flavor of mild pumkin, spices and hops. Pretty good

Lamenting my misfortune at arriving at the Smokehouse a few hours too late to try the latest “Firkin Friday” offering, I casually spoke with “Lee” who unbeknownst to me is the assistant to the Brewer of the fine ales of Barley’s Brewing. He managed to scrounge up a shotglass sample for me to nibble on, though warned me of the potential “yeast hazard”. Wondrous nose of pumpkin pie & medicine. Wow! Alcohol and cinnamon with vanilla. What’s not to like? Almost a fruit beer. The brew is a cloudy medium honey amber with no head. The brew is sweet, malty and alcoholic at the front accompanied by a warm middle. The brew stutters at the finish, but retains a spicy quality. The medium palate is soft, and creamy; but the finish feels dry. Thanks Lee!!

Pint firkin draft at the smokehouse. Pours a dark amber with not much head at all. Aroma of c-hops and nice caramel malts with a touch of chocolate. Flavor mirrors the aroma but with a little more fruit. A bit of pears and even apple. Palate is light not real carbonated and refreshing. This is a unique beer. Quite enjoyable!

Hints of chocolate. An excellent flavor without the heaviness. The bottle design is appealing as well. Good autumn beer.
