3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, USA - MAY 2, 2008
Firkin version at Barley’s 6th Annual Mini RAF (04/26/08): The beer pours a cloudy dark orange color with a thin off-white head that fizzes away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops and pine. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with flavors of hops, pine and malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness. Decent overall.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 michcam8 (75) - Ohio, USA - APR 27, 2012
Had cask conditioned at the smokehouse. Orangish yellow in color, cloudy with a pillowy white head. Descent amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma of hops and citrus. Taste translates to aroma, with hops up front, some orange and grapefruit notes and a little bit of wheat. Good beer especially the way it was served. Recommend having it on a firkin friday.

Had on draft at Barleys Mini Real Ale Fest (Columbus). Big pine aroma. Flavor of lemon, oranges and pine.

Sample at the Smokehouse. Cloudy orange pour with a big white head. Citrus hop aroma with wheat malt. Citrus hop flavor (I guessed Centennial, but it’s all Amarillo) with wheat malt in the finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (6113) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2008
Enjoyed at The Smokehose location. A hoppy wheat, with a little head and lots of lace. Aroma was nice, bubblegum and a bit of wheat. Orangey taste that the brewmaster told our group was neither flavouring nor hops. Above average carbonation, I think the only one of the product line.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (7294) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 15, 2008
Draft at BMRAF 08. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 DrHomolka (761) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 10, 2008
Draft at the Smokehouse. Pours an orange color with a small white head. Aroma is substantial citrus like hops. The Barley house character that all their hoppy beers have, I don’t know how to explain it other than a fresh, sweet citrusy hop smell. Nice. Flavor is fairly hoppy, lightly bitter, smooth and even a bit watery. Pleasant, clean taste. Hops are more in the aroma than flavor. Certainly reminds one of Gumballhead, though it is different enough not to be a copy. I liked this.

This to me, is nearly exactly like the commercial description. "A pale wheat that is hopped up" is pretty damn close. On tap @ Smokehouse. Pale orange color, very piney, weedy smelling. Tasted somewhere between a cloudy wheat beer and a pale ale. Mild bitter finish. Thought the hops were a bit weak in this one, though.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cletus (6063) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 30, 2007
Fresh growler courtesy of moejuck. Pours orangey copper with a white head. Smells of perfume, oranges, pine, some caramel. Tastes hoppy with lots of resiny notes. This is much more hoppy than I was expecting and I don’t see where the American wheat angle comes in on this one.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sliffy (2036) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 30, 2007
On tap at the Smokehouse: Poured a hazy copper color with a white head. Aroma, pale malts, citrus, some bready notes. Flavor, light wheats, some pale malts, citrus and herbal hops on the finish. Nice bitterness. Very nice stuff.
