From the firkin. Pours dark brown/black with a surprising lack of head. There are some thick, clear, fat bubbles scattered around the top that disappear quickly. Aroma is roasty, slight chocolate, and intense vanilla. Certainly the most vanilla I’ve ever smelled in a beer. Taste continues with the heavy vanilla. Some chocolate and normal porter tastes underneath. I am a fan of vanilla and liked how it came out in the aroma and the taste. However the biggest downside is the body of this beer which is way too thin and watery. If this were nice and rich and thick and creamy and all that this could do wonders. Still it’s pretty nice.

Cask version at Ale House #1. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin and wispy off-white head. Thin speckled lacing throughout the glass. The aroma is malty with a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied and very smooth with a sweet malt and chocolate flavor. The vanilla is muted but noticeable. Touches of bitter coffee are present as well. The finish is smooth and sweet with a hoppy aftertaste. Pleasantly drinkable overall.

From the firkin. Very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and flavors of vanilla and roasted malt. Thin bodied with a dry finish.

On firkin at Alehouse #1 - Pours black with not much head at all. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts and lots of vanilla. Flavor starts out with sweet chocolate then gives way to sweeter vanilla flavor and finishes with some brief hops. Pleasant smooth mouthfeel.. Not much carbonation. A bit to the watery side... Very drinkable porter..
