COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early this season, and still containing about one gallon of Jack Daniels, we filled it with winter warmer. Then we let it rest. And conditon. And mellow. The result is our first barrel-conditioned ale .

12/31/04: On tap at the Smokehouse NYE 2004. Aroma of oak barrel and cherries. Once poured, the body has a color gradation which goes from a creamy almond color to a red-brown color. Once the beer settles, you are left with a nice, creamy almond colored head, which clings to your glass. Very intense flavors, which include cherry, oak barrel, sugary malt, whisky and alcohol. Smooth, warming, clean finish. I am not sure what the ABV is, but this beer was quite strong! Aging this one another year would be worth the wait!

Remaining amount of this year’s winter warmer on cask, enjoyed at the Smokehouse. Jack Daniels barrel aged. Lots of barley in there, served appropriately at room temperature. Brandy colour with a whisp of head. Corn bourbon aroma. Sourish. One case where barrel aged did not work for a beer.

Went out with Rick and Robert for a night of unbridled debauchery last night. I started with this from the Firkin. Floral nose of cologne, dried fruit, and cherries. The brew is a cloudy walnut with amber highlights and a minimal head. Wow! The brew is sweet and tangy with an abundance of acidity and spice. The finish is very fruity with nice depth. The full body is syrupy and flat. The finish is slightly cloying with a peppery bite from the yeast. No listing here on the ABV but this one packs a fuckin wallop!

1 year old and barrel conditioned. Clear brown color with a small beige head. Aroma of oak, boubon and vanilla. Flavor of caramel malts. Pretty smooth.

On tap at barleys smokehouse. Pours a brown color with hardly a beige colored head. Aroma is oak, whiskey, caramel, alcohol, ginger. Flavor is oak, vanilla, bourbon, ginger, cinnamon, caramel, toffee. Palate is full bodied, mild carbonation, finishes boozey and sweet. I really enjoyed this. Velvety smooth, decent balance, perhaps a little hot but not overwhelming, great complex mix of flavors.

’05 vintage on the firking at the smokehouse. Amber color with no head. The aroma is very boozey and full of malt. Palate is smooth. Tastes were mostly alcohol, and caramel malt. Not the best offering from Barleys.

2005 vintage on the firkin @ the smokehouse: Clear dark brown color, with absolutely no head. Aroma, malt and alcohol, caramel and molassas. Flavor, rich caramel and molassas, alcohol, almost no bitterness, and it was very hot. Interesting to say the least, I’de really like to know the ABV.

On tap at the smokehouse - Pours hazy amber with an average offwhite head. Aroma of bourbon big bourbon over some fruity hop notes and some alcohol. Flavor is a blend of those same flavors with some caramel and some definite orange notes as well. Palate is somewhat sharp due to the alcohol content in this one. I think this is a big beer! Pretty tasty..

Tasted at MRAF in Columbus. Poured a Hazy light orange color with medium head. Due to bourbon barrel aging, the aroma and flavor was strong in bourbon. Interesting brew as a barleywine but use the cask with the stout.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2005 MRAF ’05. Aged in Jack Daniels cask. Pours light brown with a few bubbles for a head. Aroma is big time Jack Daniels. Stong taste of bourbon. Seemed a little watered down with a strong JD taste with hints of fruit, oranges? Decent.
