COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A slightly malty butterscotch-colored ale. We carmelize the malt at the end of the mashing process, producing toffee-like undertones. Hoppy end notes, thanks to the organic Tasmanian Pride of Ringwood, make this one a sophisticated ale.

A barley’s staple. A clear amber color and thin head. Mild malter flavor and very clean finish.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2008 My go-to beer at Barley’s. A really smooth and easy to drink beer. Great malt, carmel, brown sugar & spice mixture. A very solid beer.

Draft @ Smokehouse. One of my favorites from Barley’s. Pours amber with thin and quickly dissipating white head. Tastes of sweet toffee with very mild toasty alcoholic finish. You can definitely put away a few of these.

Pretty sugary start, but gains in malt so that it doesnt feel like your teeth are rotting. A pretty decent Scottish that seems to have some nuts in the finish. One of my favorites for the style.

Draft. Slightly reddish-amber color with a small off-white head. Malty, somewhat peaty aroma, with a smooth, sweet and smokey flavor - definitely light on the hops. Medium body and little carbonation, smooth and easy drinking. Pretty good brew.

First off I should state that I am not a big fan of this style. That being said, I loved the color and the smell of the beer. The taste was good, and you could detect the alcohol, which my friend who likes these styles looks for. Worth checking out.

The best Scottish Ale, I’ve had. Nice and unassuming. A good drink for Beer Neophytes too.

A good beer to start with if you have never had a microbrew. Not too hoppy. Nice red color, decent head.

Yellow to butterscotch body with a thick white head and lots of lacing.
Malt and hop dominate the aroma. Some sweetness.
Malt and hops in the taste too. Some sweet toffee and a bit of smoke. Nice hop flavor and perfect bitterness.
Smooth, medium-bodied and highly drinkable.

12/28/02: on tap at the smokehouse. medium to diminishing head with minimal carbonation. light butterscotch to amber- orange in colour. nice lacing. little bit sweet and purfumy to the taste, with hints of orange, and hops. to be honest, i may have to re-rate this one sometime: my smell was totally ruined by an all of a sudden rush of Barley’s delicious french fries!
