AleDude (22), USA Apr 13, 2008 A barley’s staple. A clear amber color and thin head. Mild malter flavor and very clean finish.
Sammy (3041), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2008 One of a few Scottish style taps on/ Tongue numbing effect. Medium mouthfeel, you taste carmel. A bit of darkness colouring what would be yellow, lace. Cascade and Mount Hood hops used, sparingly. The mysterious citrus orange peel flavour we noticed in Barley’s instead of hops was here as well. Glouglouburp (1935), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 16, 2008 In short: A sweet malted beer with some problems. Boring.
How: Tap at brewpub (SmokeHouse location, AleHouse #2)
The look: Clear golden body with a small white head.
In long: Sticky honey and caramel with some butterscotch and a light vegetables sensation (cabbage mainly). Lack of hops. Overall impression of corn syrup. MacLenny should really keep his Scottish Ale to himself himself.
Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 Draft @ Smokehouse. One of my favorites from Barley’s. Pours amber with thin and quickly dissipating white head. Tastes of sweet toffee with very mild toasty alcoholic finish. You can definitely put away a few of these. Drjohnrock (94), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 13, 2007 Draft sampler at Barleys Smokehouse (Ale House #2). Clear amber color, fine, appropriately intense malty flavor. Another solid brew from Barleys.
