sliffy (1896), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 5, 2008 DLD ’08: Growler: Pours a dark brown with a black head. Aroma, roasted coffee notes, chocolate. Flavor, roasted malts, lots of coffee, chocolate, a little thin for the body.
BeerVirgin72 (516), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Apr 26, 2008 Had on tap at the Smokehouse. Dark brown/black pour. Nice creamy head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. I prefer a sweeter porter, but found this surprisingly delicious! Taste was very much roasted flavored coffed. Very good. Rogueone (95), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2008 Draft at Barley’s Smokehouse. Darkest brown color, with a very fragrant and sweet coffee aroma that reminded me of an Iced Hazelnut coffee. Mild and smooth roasted flavor, mirroring a cold Kona coffee without any bitter finish. This beer hides its alcohol, and is a must-try for anyone who appreciates a good cup of java. Drjohnrock (93), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 13, 2007 Draft sampler at Barleys Smokehouse (Ale House #2). Dark brown color, light body, VERY INTENSE coffee aroma--more so than many commecial coffees, taste slightly less intense than the aroma but still quite bold. Very intersesting brew. While many porters and stouts have coffee elements in the nose and taste, an appreciation of this brew is helped if you like your coffee as much (or almost as much) as your beer. Tmoney99 (3270), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 9, 2007 Draft at Smokehouse. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee aroma. Medium body. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable dark brew.
