COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian golden ale that is a thirst quencher, a sessionable Belgian ale.

We’ve been wanting to do another Belgian ale for some time now. Our target was a sessionable Belgian golden ale.

Coincidentally, we were approached by one of the many conventions that grace our presence across the street.

Origins Game Fair comes into town once a year; Origins is a regional convention regarding all things board games. They asked if we’d be interested in sponsoring their convention.

After some thought, we agreed and decided that brewing a beer inspired by the fantasy of board games such as Dungeons & Dragons would allow us to get all mystical.

After some thought, we decided that all games (literal and figurative) have to start somewhere. Additionally, Point of Origin is a Dungeon and Dragons reference to the location in space where a spell or magical effect begins.

Hence the name: Point of Origin. It’s also sorta the name of the convention. Cool. Twofer.

Since gold is part of many board games, a golden ale fit perfectly--a reason to brew the Belgian Golden, not that we need a reason.

There is a character in D&D named Raisitlin Majere, the Master of Past and Present. We decided to include the hourglass in our graphics, substituting Golden Ale for sand.

And that’s how we come up with a new beer. Cheers!

On tap. Hazy gold color with a creamy white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast and citrus. Flavors are sweet malt, fruity citrusy notes, banana and clove Begian yeast flavors and a peppery hop bite. Creamy mouthfeel. This seems to be a cross between a golden ale and a Belgian golden. Nice fruity notes with a sturdy hop finish. Nice beer. Refreshing.

Draft pour. Pours a hazy yellow with no head. The aroma has big spice. So much so that it’s just too much. All spice in the taste. Big body and low carbonation.

Taster at the Brewpub on tap. Hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Good zesty herbal aroma. Some banana, tropical fruit aromas. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, creamy texture. Lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, more bitter than your typical belgian, I like that. Moderate sweet. Just a very light bit of pleasing alcohol warmth. Pretty nice zesty herbal more bitter belgian ale...

Aroma is weak, but present. Mouthfeel is rich, as is the palate. Sweetness towards the end

On draught at Barley’s Ale House #1. The beer is a clear golden color with rising columns of bubbles, and a medium fizzy white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, banana and malt. Medium body with flavors of bananas, sweet spices and yeast. A bit of malt there too. The finish is fruity with an herbal note left behind. Decent overall.

Pint at the Alehouse on 6/8/12. Clear gold pour with a medium white head. Big time banana and bubble gum nose with malt, slight caramel and some clove. Sweet banana and bubble gum flavor with a bit of clove spiciness and a sweet banana finish. Not my style, but well made and will appeal to fans of the style.
