COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our first foray into the world of Belgian ales, and we’ve got a beuty for you. It is a saison that we’ve infused with fresh raspberries.

Sample at Dublin Rd. Tart, tangy, with a slight rasperry taste. Very thin. Not billed as a saison at the brewery. More like one of Sam Adams horrible fruit beers. Not good.

On tap at the Smokehouse. Pours a cloudy orange with some white head. Funky aroma. Some fruit, but mostly vinegar. Tastes of Raspberry, vinegar and soap.

Hazy pinkish color with a small white head. Raspberry aroma. Flavor of raspberry and some malt. Tastes just like a wine cooler.

Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2008
Sample at Barley’s Smokehouse. This beer is a hazy orange-yellow color with a medium foamy white head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of raspberries and musty malt. Light body with a tart raspberry character. Flavors of mild yeast and spices in the background. The finish is tart and fruity with a short-lived raspberry aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but as a first attempt at a Belgian it is clear Barley’s has a little more work to do.

Pint at the Smokehouse. Pours a hazy, rosy color with a small white head. Aroma is faint, faint raspberries at first that eventually warms up to a somewhat faint raspberry taste. No Belgian yeast or Saison-like qualities are noted beneath the rasperries. The raspberry is certainly there but I feel they did not use enough as it is too subtle for a beer with this name. Taste is slightly tart, thin, fruity and fizzy with a short finish. Watery. Again no Saison characteristics in the taste, just tastes like a bland fruit beer. Disappointing.

Draft at Smokehouse. Poured cloudy orange color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Complex tart fruit and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet & sour flavor with a medium sweet & sour finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer with aged cheese or spicy food.
