Cask at the Smokehouse. Hazy copper with no head. Nose of old ale-sweet and sugary. Taste is sweet but not cloying with barrel aging evident. Virtually no carbonation. Full body and a dry finish. Almost sherry-like and a nice sipper..
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 JaBier (3212) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 20, 2009
On tap at the Smokehouse. Clear amber pour with a thin beige head. Heavily spiced aroma of ginger, cinnamon and sweet malt. Sweet malt flavor with ginger, cinnamon and honey with clean, semi-dry finish. Exactly what I want for this style: lots of spice but finishes clean and dry enough that you can drink a couple.

20070519 Bottle thanks to Paul. Spicy, dry stuff. Cinnamon and ginger apparent, it’s a bit like a ginger snap cookie. Nice aroma for a spiced brew.

Draft at Alehouse #2. Poured dark brown color with a medium frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate complex spicy, nutmeg and honey aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Moderate spicy sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of modeate duration. This is a solid beer.

Pours a moderate to deep amber with a thin white head, and some spotty lace. Aroma is tons of ginger and some orange zest, herbal tea and flowery. More tea flavors, ginger root, earth, crystal malt, alcohol isnt too apparant despite the 11+%. Not that great.

handbottle. thanks to xnoxhatex for sharing. poured clear dark amber with no head. nose had lots of cinnamon, cherries, and toffee. flavor was cloyingly sweet with a cinnamon-cherry cough syrup thing going on. wow it’d be hard for me to be less into this sorta thing. alcohol was extremely well hidden but i really question the 11.2%.

Hand bottled by Moejuck. Nice pfftt opening the bottle but little head on top of the dark brown body. Lots of cookie and alc in the aroma with some christmas spice. Tastes pretty phenomnal and can understand the percentile now. Tastes of of aged barleywine with dark malt sweetness and bourbon notes. Lots vanilla and has cake like feel. I feel like I could have chewed this beer if it hadn’t had the med. body. A great beer that I wish I had greater access too.
