Bottle that my dad brought along to a family party, near Pontadarwe, Wales 20.08.11 Pours black, soft in mouth, light roastiness, touch of sourness (but not in a bad way) tangy plum skins, some hops coming through. Cask at GBBF 2010. A pitch black beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as lighter notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish.

Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average duration, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100804]

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 4 Aug 2010) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, liquorice and a roasted, ashy finish with a generous bitterness. Medium body, dry. Solid and tasty stout. Very nice.
