3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured by gravity @ NERAX North cask festival. 11/16/2013 Haverhill, MA. Pale straw color, no head. Nose is light pale malt, citrus hops and bread. Taste is far from an IPA. Flavor mirrors the nose. Lots of bread malt with weak, subtle fruit and citrus notes. Texture is sweet and sticky. Works as American Pale but when I see IPA I am expecting hops and bitterness. This lacks both.

Lovely bottle conditioned ale from Edinburgh. Slightly cloudy, not too citrusy, nice lacing. Quite gorgeous.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is floral, citrus and sweet. Cloudy golden appearance. Flavour is well balanced with a nice bitterness. The best beer I have tried from Barneys.

Bottle @ home, A little disappointing, i expected a bit more, this was just a little bit to bitter for my liking. While there was some citrus fruit on the palate straight up it needs more.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle from Provenance Wines. Appearance - golden with a very large head. Nose - tropical fruit probably mango but then some sweet citrus like lemon meringue pie.Taste - lemon and pine. Something estery too. Palate - medium bodied but a little too drying on the finish for me though the finish is very long. Overall - best beer I’ve had from Barney so far. Could be slightly more balanced though.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Golden Amber with a white head. Inviting fruity citrus aroma. Well balanced bitterness/hoppiness/maltiness ratio. A solid and surprisingly low rated beer. I thought it was delicious.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma: Lemon, tangerine and a light floral aroma.
Appearance: Hazy golden body with a massive white head that holds really well. Average carbonation. Great lacing.
Taste: Lots of citrus: lemon, lime and grapefruit. Pale malt with a grassy hop. Light bitterness.
Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: The bottle says IPA but it’s listed here as an American Pale Ale. I’d say it’s not strong enough or hoppy enough to be an IPA, but it’s a nice, simple APA. This is so much better than their undrinkable ’Lager Beer’ (which I’ve been meaning to revisit to see if it’s improved). This is quite an unusual beer... I’m suddenly interested in trying more beers from this brewery.
