pivnizub (7228) - Bochum, Porúří, - DEC 18, 2005
Bottle (bought in Herrnsdorf): Reddish-amber coloured, thin, almost white foamy layer; sweet, (dark- or roast-)malty nose, a bit vinous with a tinge of bitterness; soft sweet flavour, bitter traces, too; drier malty finish with a touch of bitterness and a faint tinge of roasted malts; low carbonation, well quaffable and tasty, not too sweet...........

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
Muffig malzig-wässriger Antrunk mit deutlicher Blechnote. Das Bier verbessert sich nicht sonderlich sondern bleibt wässrig, blechern und marginal malzig, Genau so gleitet das Bier dann auch aus. 9/5/6/5/?/5

Maria (8572) - Thisted, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2011
Bottle at home. It’s dark brown with a red hue and a small head. The aroma has notes of butter and syrup. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of butter, dark syrup, caramel and light licorice.

fonefan (24928) - VestJylland, DENMARK - MAY 8, 2011

Bottle 500ml. w. swing top.

Clear medium to dark brown colour with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, roasted, caramel, moderate to light heavy toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, toffee, roasted - caramel, butter, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110504]

MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - NOV 17, 2010
(swing top bottle, purchased at the brewery) Hazy, ruby brown colour with a short and tanned foamy layer. Slightly sweet and toasted malty aroma with berry-fruity notes and a tinge of barnyard, diacetyl. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a flat carbonation. Mildly toasted malty taste with a whiff of caramel and fruity notes; slightly sweet and roasty bitter finish with subtle fruity notes. Not really convincing. It seems the brewery has problems with their bottling. 14.XI.10

Looks dead. Chestnut colour. Communistic aroma of rustic nasty. Communist taste - burnt liquorice, butter and the like. Very light body. Charred things, thin, nothing works. One of the few Franconian beers I genuinely could not stand.

Beershine (4710) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUL 20, 2009
Draft from brewery. Black as a schwartzbier. the aroma is licorice and butterscotch diacetyl. The palate is flat but not very oily. Licorice flavors but has many flaws. Too bad.

omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2008
Bottled at the brewpub. Cloudy dark brown, small head. Roasty and earthy. Medium bodied with pleasant soft mouthfeel. Mild, yet with evident roasty notes and flavour of coffee and chocolate. Low bitterness. All focus in on the roasty malt.

Bottle. Light brown colour, no carbonation, no head. Sweet malty aroma. Notes of malt, caramell. Barely noticeable smoke note. Very pleasant Dunkles.

Ungstrup (23918) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 16, 2007
Hand bottled bottle opened with a very faint fsst, drunk at the gaststätte. A hazy brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet matly with a slight acidic note as well as light notes of berries. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of caramel. Nothing wrong, just rather boring.

Papsoe (22946) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 17, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a small, dissipating head. Quite flat - something is wrong with the carbonation here. Some roasted malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with lightly sweet, roasted malt. Almost no bitterness. A very plain Dunkel. 091106
