BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before 11th May 2010, drank 20th Feb 2010. Poured into my ’Old Speckled Hen’ vase shaped pint glass. Light brown in colour, clear and lively, a large off-white bubbley head sat on top. One or two bits of yeast or some other items from the grist could be seen floating within the body, no problems though. The smell was malts and some hop dryness, a typical English Bitter aroma, meaning ’not a great amount of aromas’. The taste was dry, with a good (low to most Americans) hop bitterness, which gave it the usual English Bitter features. The 3.8% ABV was just right, this doesn’t need any more alcohol, its body was fine and the flavours blended together very well. Not a classic English Bitter, but considering the price (£1.09 a pint), not bad at all.

Bottle. Blonde and hoppy but a little thin. A reasonable but uninspiring session bitter.

Bottled@the chriso "Rock The Roof Down" pre-gbbf shindig. Orangeish golden colour with a small white foamy head. Aroma is fruits, some sweet malts, mild yeast and some herbal notes as well. Flavour is similar. Ends rather floral and grassy and leaves a pleasant bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle @ Chris O. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma with hints of caramel. Sweetish malty hoppy flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

50 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK. Orangey gold colour, skunky aroma. Sour, perhaps all the Barnsley I got are old? I know the style so this is either off or a poor replication.

Bottle at ChrisO "I’m Trying to see the Stool" pre GBBF2010 tasting. Gold, no head. It’s a bitter. Oh good. I love bitter especially after all those god awful Impy Stouts.
