Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre Liverpool. Deep hrown creamy head. Touch of vinegar on aroma. Been ages since I had a British beer like that. Some decent malt but mostly vinegar comes through

Oct 2009: The Nutty Stack brown bottle held 500ml of a reddy brown beer and a huge off-white foaming head which couldn’t wait to get out. The pint glass couldn’t hold it all. The body was clear and gave off a smell of hops and yeasts. The beer was dry tasting throughout, malts came to the fore during the taste, not noted in the nose. Dry and hoppy with a hidden malty taste sums it up nicely. Couldn’t find any hints of nuts in anything to do with the beer apart from the label! Spritzy and a young (green, not really ready) feel to the whole tasting. This however added to the experience more than ruining it.

Bottled. A chestnut coloured beer with a large whitish head. A slightly fruity nose with dry papery notes. The taste is dry and nutty with woody notes. Obvious pasteurisation but it’s not awful.

Bottle. Burst out of the botle-a bad star. Big head thatnever really dissipated which made drinking quite diffult. Some maltines but one that I dont want to try again.

Bottle that dad picked up from Congleton area (cheers dad), consumed Dinmore, Herefordshire 27-12-09 Pours reddy brown with an off-white head. This is a touch sour on the nose and possibly verging on infection? There is some toffee in the mouth but sourness is there, its just about drinkable but closing in on a poor rating fast, glad dad shared half of this otherwise I think the rating could have plumetted further. . Bottle, B&M, Carlisle. A pleasant reddy brown appearance leads, unfortunately, to an uninspiring thin and metallically harsh ordinary bitter. Some nuttiness detected on the tongue and the maltiness comes through, but it’s not enough to save it from mediocrity and it becomes sour tasting towards the end. I know it’s produced as a bargain beer, but if you’re going to skimp on quality that much, don’t bother....

rauchbier (3203) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUL 4, 2009
Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze in Barton. Copper bronze thin shortlived white head and gentle condition. Gentle sweet caramel and low floral hops in the nose, thin and metallic in the mouth with a slight fruity edge and a nasty dryness in the mouth.
