£1.09 bottle from Hinckley B+M. Pale gold briefly swirled with white. Damp sock spread with margarine aroma. Flavour pretty much the same with watery orange citrus drowning beneath the diacetyl. Mealy corn based snack finish. The only tipper in this range of budget beers I’ve tried.

50cl bottle shared with my brother. No head. Thin golden pour with no carbonation. Over the best before date I think. Ok beer.

Brown 500ml bottle, the name comes from a well known local chap who has sadly died, money from the sale of this beer goes towards a ’Bowel Cancer’ charity. The beer was best before 6th June 2010 and drank on 20th Feb 2010. Poured into my ’Old Speckled Hen’ vase shaped glass. Exceedingly pale, very lager like in appearance, huge white head on top of a golden clear and clean looking body. The aromas given off however tell you this is an ale, hops and a fairly sweetish yeast smell fills the air from the glass. The taste is a little on the citrus side (grapefruits and lemons) with the hops struggling to fight their way into the flavour. There is no noticable malt content from start to finish. A pleasant if slighty thin beer, great value (£1.09 a pint bottle).

rauchbier (3634) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUL 10, 2009
Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze in Barton. Gold, thin shortlived white head and low condition. Fruity and yeasty nose with a slight plastic/phenol note initially but soon dissipating to leave citrus, chalky and hop bitter in the mouth with a low hop flower fruitiness and a little sweet malt lingering, hop bitterness dominates the finish.

Bottle. Very pale copper beer with no head. Aroma of citrus and apricots. Taste is citrus, tangerine, hops and a little pine resin. Decent.
