COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Liberator is a deep amber to dark brown colored beer with a rich and complex malty flavor. It has a touch of roast character and no hop flavor. Hop bitterness is generally only high enough to balance the malt flavors to allow moderate sweetness in the finish. This is a Bavarian specialty that is most closely associated with serving in the Winter and Spring Seasons.

Poured a clear dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma had moderate amounts of coffee and roast with a hint of ash. The flavor was roasty with coffee. Very thin body.

Dark brown color with a moderate, small tight bubbled head. Wet grain aromas. Toasted malt and light coffee in the background. Seems somewhat thin ans slightly watery in feel. Light toasted malt and a dry floral hops component in the flavors. The strength is not evident. Light roasted malt finish. Seems to get a touch thicker as it warms. More like a strong dunkel verses a doppel. Not enough residual sugars to add the malt flavors and a rich thickness. Thanks to Andre’ for this one.

Bottle courtesy of Larry Pitonka. Pours dark brown with a thin ring of off white bubbles. Smells of cocoa, chocolate and roasted malt. Tastes of chocolate and roasted malt. Good, but a far cry from a doppelbock.

Bottle: Blackish coffee, thin beige head, spotty lacing.   Whole wheat aroma, slight soy, seems a touch sweet on the roasted malts.   Forwardly malty, quite roasted.   Very minor sweet lactose.   Light example for the style, but I prefer that.   Clean, moderate mouthfeel, decent body.   As it warms it picks up more lactose like sweetness.   Enjoyable, even if a bit light.

Dark brown color. Thin head that exudes smoke and roasted malts. Smoke, roasted malt, thin wheaty chocolate nose. Off dry chocolatey finish. A dopplebock?? I think not!
