Brown color. Lots of hops for the style. Medium palate, and just a hint of malt. Drinkable enough, if forgettable.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChainGangGuy (3835) - Canton, Georgia, USA - JAN 10, 2008
Appearance: Pours a clear amber body with a tiny, pitiable white head.
Smell: Faint, malty aroma with a bit of green apple.
Taste: A meager amount of caramel maltiness. Hint of apples. Weak floral hops. There’s a tartness on the tailend of the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: Meek and mild, it lacks any of the richness, depth, or even downright deliciousness that this style can possess.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 OSLO (1131) - Ames, Iowa, USA - FEB 21, 2008
[Bottle, thanks Skyview] Pours dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt, musty, and overall not very good. Taste is is also sweet with a good deal of malt, but there is a hint of sourness in there too. Medium mouthfeel. Well, this was better than the Pils, but still not very good.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crit (2841) - New Westminster, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 8, 2007
Hazy amber, fast fading beige head. Light carmel malt nose. Light sweet malt profile with an odd bitter hop finish.
Both the haziness and the bitterness are undersirable for this style...in short...not a good example. Also lacks carbonation
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 CaptainCougar (6833) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 15, 2007
Transparent orange bronze with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of slightly toasted malt with a heavy dose of vinegar and citrus hops. Body starts lightly sweet with some fruity tartness and grainy malts toward a drier finish. The tartness doesn’t come through as much as the aroma implied, but it’s still not the way it’s intended I’m assuming.

After all the great things I have heard about this drink I was really dissapointed. Lightly spiced biscuit malt with muted nuttiness and a mildly sweet character. Very boring and plain.

Dark amber to light copper color. Moderate beige head. LIghtly sour grain and fruit scents. Not a clean lager nose. LIghtly acid and acetic qualities in the flavors as well. Some decent toasted malt and hearty bread in the flavors. A sour dough quality. Some over ripe strawberries in the finish and into the linger. Not a clean brew.

05-Jan-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 04-Dec-07 for $3.92 from liquidsolutions.biz) Soured fruits is not a flavor that should be present in an Oktoberfest, but this is the principle flavor at work here. It’s also very toasty, dry and mildly acidic with light butteriness and a hint of citrusy hop bitterness. However, it’s that sour quality that stands out in sharp contrast and does so rather prominently. Identical aromas: soured fruit and buttered toast. Light-medium in body, dry and tart mouthfeel with low-medium carbonation. Hazy, amber in color, capped by a small, off-white head that fades away pretty quickly, leaving no lacing. Obviously a flawed bottle with an infection beginning to take hold, but not a necessary drain pour yet. It’s still drinkable if you’re desperate and it’s the only beer you have left.
