1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Stine (1398) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - FEB 14, 2008
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle. Pale, watered down apple juice or ginger ale. Aroma of what might be expected from a stale can of Canada dry; ginger, lime zest, diet rite, honey and bland apple; tepid, odd, and off. Sesame seed bitterness, but not a trace of hop. Banana, ginger, and papery fruit seeds define the flavor; as hard to comprehend as it is to describe. Whimpers of noble hops with a bit of grassy dryness fail to produce any substantial flavor or degree of bitterness; our sample has none of the floral zestiness that others have described. Creamy and limp in the mouth; finishes weakly with some vanilla, sourdough and sugar. Very dried out. Certainly a failure of a pilsner; very confusing and off-putting, and obnoxious to drink. Thanks for sharing, Bob.

Another shared by Skyview. As someone who truly appreciates and enjoys pilsners, I can’t understand why this one is rated so high in its style. Strange, light pink color. Moderate foam on top of the beer, but an odd, flat feeling on the palate. Just a hint of hops, and they are hard to taste without a big sip.
