COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Barons Brewing by AIB

The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer. Native Range. Formerly Barons Black Wattle Superior Wattle Seed Ale.

Bottle from State Line. Medium brown pour with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma is roasty malt, some brown sugar, and some nutty notes. Tastes malty, not sweet, with some hops, brown sugar, and nutty notes. Not a repeater for me.

Fizzy, off-white head with a clear amber colored body. Aromas of sweet malts and some soy sauce. Taste of sweet barely that is easy to sip. A bit biscuity. I don’t know what a wattle seed is or tastes like, but this beer reminds me of Fat Tire. Fizzy mouth with the viscosity of water.

CaptainCougar (7132) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Transparent copper amber color with a thin ring of off-white head. Has a lightly sweet caramely nose with a hint of milk chocolate. Body starts with decent fullness and subtle sweet toasty caramel and mild bready notes. FInishes drier, and mildly peppery with some bittersweetness. An interesting and palatable brew.

5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 2, 2010
Bottle:   Burnt caramel, quite translucent, no head, no lacing, this one appears as if its still.   Spicy nose, some honey, a little cereal and mash.   Blech, another average brew from Barons.   Definitely on the malty side, minor sweetness, cereal, aformentioned honey.   Flat on the tongue, otherwise moderate body, albeit leaning towards the thin side.   Sweetness lingers, some honey, and again with the cereal.   Very mealy beers they make.   What is Wattle Seed anyway?   Didn’t seem to make for all that interesting of a beer.   Needs some hops to balance it out.   Ugh...

Ernest (6260) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 21, 2008
Bottle (BB Apr/08). Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, nuts, cookie), lightly hoppy (herbs, apricot), with a light note of gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Rather nondescript; an ordinary amber ale. Ok.

blipp (6148) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - JAN 12, 2009
Bottle. Pours brown with a thin head. Sweet malt aroma with toasted grain. The flavor is sweet and almost bready, with caramel, toast, and a hint of earthiness. I expected this to be a trainwreck but it was actually pretty good and very drinkable.
