COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Barons Brewing by AIB

The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer. Native Range. Formerly Barons Black Wattle Superior Wattle Seed Ale.

Tap at HDG. Brown coloured beer with a sweet malty aroma. Light caramelly backing notes. Toasted malt, brown sugar and a touch of maple sweetness. Nice caramelly maltiness. Fairly sweet with a bit of herbal bitterness. Malts seem decocted and have a vaguely dunkel-ish quality to them that is tough to describe. Nutty finish. Decent brew.

Smells like an American brown ale - lots of chocolate and roast malt with some fruitiness. Medium brown, big head, fun label. Quite smooth at first, then and astringent bitterness comes on. Perhaps thatís Wattle Seed, I donít know. Body is a bit watery, the brew goes a little vacant in the middle with a halo of roastiness around it. Thanks to PorterPounder for holding me one out of his six.

Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with minimal head on top. Nose is very malty. Flavor is continuation of malt and is thick and somewhat sweet, carmelized nuts. Iím not sure what the wattle seed brings to the beer but I was not able to discern anything different/interesting due to that addition. If you are a malt lover, check this out, if not, leave it on the shelf. Iíll pass.

On Tap @ Hop Devil Grill NYC, 8/11/07. Pours dark amber with a half finger tan head. The nose was sweet with a bit of malt. The taste was sweet and malty with a bit of an odd veg taste. Very smooth palate, overall tasty and extremely drinkable.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Publix Supermarkets - 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium copper that sports a somewhat quickly fading off-white head. Pleasant, earthy aroma with hints of mild licorice, bakerís chocolate. Nutty flavor, some earthiness, caramel, and just a hint of chocolate. Mouthfeel is on the thin side - but crisp enough. Pleasantly suprised - glad, because I bought a whole six!

a bit slick with this nice malty with a cherry brandy hint of a brew. different and enjoyable i found this to be interesting. dark and revealing a classic gentlemans taste of beer. surely the scores are too low as of yet and no doubt thet will go higher. the sale is the versatility. great cigar and steakhouse beer. yet, you could sit down with a 20 oz or a pint and just enjoy the quality taste and mellow sophistication that is of genuine character... period

33 cl. bottle. Pours a clear ruddy copper with a frothy cream colored head. Slight buttery caramel aroma with a bit of chocolate, berries and tea. Basically malty caramel flavor, but with a touch of herbal and hoppy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation, this was lighter and more drinkable than what I was expecting given the label description. The whole wattle angle isnít that impressive, but the overall result isnít too bad.

Bottle, Cellarbrations, Bull creek, WA Pleasant malty pale ale tyle nose, on a rather darker pour, slight off whitle head. Palate is slick and reminiscent of a lactose addition or poor attenuation, with a hint of rastiness. The slickness is a real turn off.

New in Tampa. The aroma is very nice with floral notes, lots of toasty malt, caramel, fruityness and hints of classic english brown ale nutty notes. The body is a bright and clear brown/amber and holds a diminshing tan head that leaves clingy lace. Big caramel and fruit in the first sip. Muted cocoa/chocolate through the middle. The finish is dry, but fruity with toasted nutty notes. This is pretty damn good. There must be a lot of great beers in Australia for this to have such a ho-hum rating.

33 cL bottle. Now brewed by Barons Brewing. Something of a roasted caramel aroma. Dark amber color with a disappearing white head. Medium bodied. Lightly carbonated. Definitely caramel, if not dark malty, sweet. Some very different herb/veg flavor, followed by a slight chocolate burst. After that it is a relatively dry finish that has light veg and light hop. There is a spice in the mouth as well. You donít find this every day. Sort of a nice way to end the evening.
