COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Barons Brewing by AIB
http://www.baronsbrewing.com

The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer. Native Range. Formerly Barons Black Wattle Superior Wattle Seed Ale.

Bottle; poured a deep caramel-amber color with a pretty small head. Aroma of caramel, very ripe fruit, lightly toasted bread, with some earth. Flavor had something unique to it, I guess from the seed. Still it was rather a mundane beer that had some caramel maltiness, but nothing great in terms of flavor. That being said, unoffensive and a decent sessional.

Lots of malt in this beer. Some bread dough. Sweet with grain. A grittiness with some carob. Amber color. Pretty solid session beer, especially for $.79.

Bottle 330ml. Genuine flavour. Starts with a great aroma, nutty and grainy. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average duration. Palate is velvety, with light-to-medium body. Brown colour, with a frothy white head.

From an old rating note: 12oz bottle. Strong caramel malt aroma. Amber-brown pour. Nutty, malty, earthy and caramel in the taste. Smooth palate.

Bottle:   Burnt caramel, quite translucent, no head, no lacing, this one appears as if its still.   Spicy nose, some honey, a little cereal and mash.   Blech, another average brew from Barons.   Definitely on the malty side, minor sweetness, cereal, aformentioned honey.   Flat on the tongue, otherwise moderate body, albeit leaning towards the thin side.   Sweetness lingers, some honey, and again with the cereal.   Very mealy beers they make.   What is Wattle Seed anyway?   Didn’t seem to make for all that interesting of a beer.   Needs some hops to balance it out.   Ugh...

The look is amber in color, clear, and has an off white head. The smell is caramel, malts, grains, floral, and very bready. The taste is a lot of bread, malts, and caramel. Better than I thought.

Polished brown ale with a thin, quickly dissolving white head. Spicy nose; Deep and somewhat complex flavor. I’m not sure what a wattle seed is, but the flavor is complex and pretty yummy. It’s not my favorite style of beer but it’s entirely drinkable.

Bottle. A nutty red-brown, small beige head. Cereal malts, nuts and seed nose. Robust caramel and dull chocolate taste with interesting earthy nutty notes, presumably from the wattle. I was expecting either not to taste the exotic ingredient or for it to be some hideous novelty piece of Australiana - it’s a pleasant surprise to find it’s neither.

Bottle - Reddish, clear, Thin beige head. Roasted malt aroma and flavour with caramel, dark fruit, smoke and a bit woody/nuttiness (perhaps from the Acacia) . Maybe a hint of alcohol coming through. Smooth, full bodied, with medium carbonation.
