COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Barons Brewing by AIB
http://www.baronsbrewing.com

The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer. Native Range. Formerly Barons Black Wattle Superior Wattle Seed Ale.

Has a little bit of a toffee aroma. This is quite tsty; some light carmel and toffee and a little mocha coffee as well. Very nice. An excellent finish.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber, with minimal head. The aroma is strongly influenced by the addition of wattle seed, with hints of coffee. The initial flavour is a mixture of strong malt and a hint of bitter hops. This moves into a rich, dark flavour, dominated by wattle seed, but with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is complex, chocolate malt. A lovely example of Australian craft brewing. The addition of Australian native ingredients is inspired, and results in a delicious beer.

Really enjoyed this unique beer! Awesome twist to it with the wattle. Caramel and chocolate add great compliments slightly malty beer. Would buy again in a second.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2008 Stunning dark amber in the glass, with a off white head. Aroma is a little caramel, and some english hops. Great malt character, unique (not sure if its the wattle), the chocolate malt is balanced in there well. Moderate hop bitterness, and the flavour of perhaps some fuggles. The finish is a touch metallic and bitter. Overall, a very good beer. Hope to try some more from this brewer. Re-rate - on tap at the royston. A different beer to what I remember, bucketloads of bush honey and heaps fuller. Unique and delicious.

Nice choclatey smell. This is quite a smooth beer, full flavoured, with hints of chocolate, coffee and nuts. I am curious as to which elements are a result of the wattle seed. It’s pretty heavy, it wouldn’t make a very good session beer. This is something I would more likely drink with a nice peice of meat.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. BBWSWSA pours dark red to light brown. The head is medium-sized. The aroma is almost nutty but not quite. I suppose it is wattle. There’s also some malty caramel. The flavor follows the aroma. It is caramel, roasted nut shells, dried grasses and malt. This is interesting and worth a try but not something that I’d actively seek out. I’m giving it ood impression points for its unique taste. The body is a little on hte heavy side of medium and the there seems to be an oily consistency to it.
