I’m really quite surprised...I mean i didn’t even know what a wattle was before tonight. Very nutty and almost roasted. I really enjoyed it. It’s different and I can respect that. Good work Barons....

Bottle: A nice mahogany ruby color, thin head and nice lacing. Nose of juicy caramel and a spicy nutty character that’s bit like special b or weird hops. The flavor has a rich full body, ample melanoidins and a nutty puffed amaranth with molasses note in the middle. Fun beer, nutty; would make a wicked amber.

Bottle. Pours orange/copper, with an off white head. Aroma is a little odd...malt, nuts, and I guess, wattle. Flavor is malt, spices, and nuts. Medium body. Decent.

Polished brown ale with a thin, quickly dissolving white head. Spicy nose; Deep and somewhat complex flavor. I’m not sure what a wattle seed is, but the flavor is complex and pretty yummy. It’s not my favorite style of beer but it’s entirely drinkable.

very fruity and candish in the aroma, its a medium feeling palate. light on the malt and hops, but its nice and fruity that makes this one unique.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2008 Personal Milestone: My First Wattle Seed Ale Rating (out of 4040)!!!!! My dictionary informs me that a Wattle is an Australian Acacia. Never had an Acacia seed before, either, that I’m aware of. The body’s a deep copper color and it’s capped by a modest ecru head. The aroma holds some caramel, a bit of dry chocolate, and corncob. Very smooth with a thick wheaty creaminess. The flavor has a tad more chocolate and a very light mint taste that lasts long into the finish. Pretty decent. I think I’ll plant a Wattle in my yard.

12oz Bottle. Heavy earth and brown bread aroma. Particularly interesting waft of caramels, toasted oat bread, and ginger. Nice. Crystal clear red-tinted amber pour, with a voluminous fine soapy head. Right on the tongue it comes as a little watered down. There’s a hazlenut paste and almond cream sensation that rises from both the seed and the malt. Again, a bit thin. Alcohols percolate to the nostrils. Malt lies a little flat. Light spice, wood, and general raw grain dust. Very clean, with an interesting, good flavor. Not overly complex or deep, but tasty. Thanks Sean for the opportunity to try a new flavor!

a bit slick with this nice malty with a cherry brandy hint of a brew. different and enjoyable i found this to be interesting. dark and revealing a classic gentlemans taste of beer. surely the scores are too low as of yet and no doubt thet will go higher. the sale is the versatility. great cigar and steakhouse beer. yet, you could sit down with a 20 oz or a pint and just enjoy the quality taste and mellow sophistication that is of genuine character... period
