Commercial Description:
Brewed for Barons Brewing by AIB

The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer.

$10 a sixpack at the Schnuck’s grocery chain in Evansville. Pours a clear dark copper body with a generous beige head that retains well and leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is very muted, just some chocolate nuttiness. Tastes like a decent brown ale. Chocolate, some bitter dark roast, and a pervasive nuttiness that must be the enigmatic wattle seed. Very little hops presence. Not a bad brown ale but prohibitively priced.

12 oz bottle from aracauna - thanks Jacob! Pretty beer - clear, coppery amber pour with a beige head. Very sweet malty nose, nutty and sugary. Sweet caramel and brown sugar flavors, some light berry and an herbal notes. Medium body that actually comes off seeming thicker than it is. Very drinkable.

Poured a nice amber color with a small white head. The head disappeared quickly and left no lacing. Nice beer that had hints of chocolate and carmel. Can be a bit pricey. Not a bad drink though. This is definately a different beer then I have tasted.

Deep copper-amber. Medium body; moderate carbonation. Rich and sweet caramel flavor. Malts also carried notes of toast and rye-like grains. Lesser notes of chocolate and coffee. Herbal, flowery hops were mellow yet pleasant. Like others, I’ve never heard of wattle seed before ... but I think I like it.

Bottle. Pours amber with a beigh head. Aroma is malty, toasty, and nutty with caramel and a note of honey. Flavor is moderately sweet with caramel, nuts, bread, and notes of hops. Medium bodied with a clean and dry finish.

Ummm...never had a wattle seed. Never heard of one before this beer. This isn’t bad but definately a novelty. Aroma of sweet caramel with a hint of chocolate. Pour was a nice dark amber with a pinky sized off white head. Taste was very sweet and caramelly. Strong caramel and chocolate throughout with a very sweet and honey like aftertaste. A little too sweet for my taste, but a very unique beer.
