Commercial Description:

"A real bitter, for those that warrant the finest."
This inaugural Barons Extra Special Bitter (ESB) is an English style 'special' bitter produced by Australians for Australians. At 4.7% ABV, Barons ESB pours with a brilliant golden colour, topped with a rich cream head. The aroma offers an inviting mix of caramel and malt, combined with hop driven fruit resulting in a 'crisp' and full nose made to drive the senses in the heat of an Aussie summer. Barons ESB offers a rewarding balance of caramel malt sweetness supported by medium - high bitterness. The chosen noble hops deliver subtle fruit and spice character, accenting the enjoyable bitterness. With medium body and carbonation, Barons ESB is the real beer experience.

Bottle. Not enough hop character in this one. The aroma has malt, and also apple. Sweetness dominates the flavour, with light bitterness. Medium body, almost creamy in the palate. Orange colour, bubbly, frothy white head.

Pours pale copper, with a good large head that shows great lacing but little persistence. Aroma is lacking for an ESB, it has some resinous/piney hops and lots of caramel but is pretty light on. Taste shows loads of caramel malt, but has some off-putting grainy notes. Finishes with a rather tame and boring bitterness. Body is too watery. Needs more hops!

Bottle - Pours ruby with a small head that didn’t last very long. Nice caramel malt aroma, with a hint of hops. Caramel malt aroma carries on into the flavour. The finish is slightly bitter but has a raw malt taste. Not too bad.

An ESB at 4.7%? I had to laugh. THis was pretty weak, especially with it’s funky aftertaste of something I couldn’tn put my finger on. Quite possibly fingers. Got it for $2 a bottle and that was the best thing about it.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque orange with a dense, beige head leaving laces. Lightly tart nutty nose, perhaps a vague citrusy whiff. Medium body, lightly oxidized, notes of nuts and dry caramel. Lightly bitter finish. 100709

Nice head, relatively light in color and flavor for an ESB, hints of roasted malts with a decent hop profile

Bottle at Bulldogs Jackson MS. Hazy gold no head. Nose is grainy with a faint hop flavor. Taste is slightly hoppy, a bit tart. Overall a mild drinkable beer that doesn’t offend-it just doesn’t stand out.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small white head. Light acidic cornish and malty aroma. Crisp hops fruity flavoured with a persisting light malt base. Bitter and light malty finish. Ends dry.
