3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
($1.99 12oz. bottle at Total Wine in Kennesaw, GA).
Appearance: Pours a semi-hazy, orangey-golden body with a small, fizzy white head.
Smell: Light malty aroma with a touch of honey and spice and what smells like the addition of Nelson Sauvin hops (providing notes of white grapes and at the same time cooked, minced garlic), a hop I’m really starting to enjoy.
Taste: Mild malt flavor with a sweetness that blends into the taste of white wine, notes of galic, and a bit of Saaz spiciness. Finishes both clean and crisp.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A solid, well-made lager from the Land Down Under.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pale golden yellow body, whispy thick... three-finger head forms a donut in its center(?)... sparkling and effervescent... fresh, almost fruity with a strong pilsner maltiness--pleasant... light, crisp with a floursih of effervescence around the tongue--mellow and balanced... tough to place its taste: a citiric burst with a malty base and a yeasty finish make this engaging yet something of an anomaly to its purported style... as with Cooper’s, Barons seems to have something in its water that brings it to life--not your average lager (or ESB, or pale ale!)... I could hammer these in the summer sun or sip them by the winter fire--versatile if not worthwhile... i see I am in the minority of this beer’s opinion.... a Christmas gift I won’t look in the mouth!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A nice slightly-fruity aroma. Orangeish color. This is pretty good. Light, some orange, but a good fruitiness to it. Could drink more of this.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden pale, brillantly clear. Clean nose, some saaz (subtle) and malt. Mid range bitterness but good mouth feel. Slightly more body than your average premium lager (stella, becks etc). Good lager at a good price.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a perfectly clear straw with a one finger head off a fairly firm pour. Nose is a slight toasted earthy edge. It calms down fairly quickly, and takes on a more subdued tone. Flavor is a bit thick with malt character. Leaves a cooked aftertaste in the back of my mouth. Has an earthy character to it that seems a touch unrefined, but overall still good. Feel has a decent carbonation that coats the tongue and the liquid is fairly smooth as well. Overall pretty drinkable. I probably wouldn’t go back to it, but it’s not a piece of trash by any means.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml, bb 07/18/08. Clear, orange-topaz with a two-finger head that lasts. Earthy honey and grain aroma. Bready grain and honey flavor dominates, with some nutty roast flavors coming through as well. Has some nice hop dryness that doesn’t have much flavor, but provides great balance. That’s fine with me, I like malt instead of the typical US over-hopped bombs. Light-medium body is tingly and finishes dry. This really has a lot of flavor for a lager, and seems more like a British session ale. Way underrated for the style.

Pours amber, white 1" head, good lacing. Strong floral hop aroma. Taste is well balanced hops and malts. More interesting flavors than I would expect from a lager. Enjoyed this quite a lot. Will have another please.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Pale golden color with a relatively decent head. This carries a European aroma and drinks with the smooth balance of a better German pilsner. With only light hints of starchiness, this drinks with a great balance of light fruity malt and just a kiss of quality hop bitterness. Definitely sessionable. (#3396, 4/10/2008)
