On tap at brewery last September. Poured a dark Mahogony with brown head and lace. Aroma of dark roasted malts. Medium carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of dark chocolate, bittter roots, dark roasted malts, slight oxidation, bourbon. Overall big and bold with a mix of dark roasted malty goodness, some alcohol heat, and bitterness.

Inky black with a thin beige foamy head. Aroma is sultry and dark with sweet dark cocoa and caramel-soaked oak and a light kiss of bourbon. The flavor hits the bourbon note harder than the nose, bringing a phenolic and boozy caramel and oak flavor to the forefront, a bit of char, and some roasty black malt and just enough sweet deep dark cocoa to bring it away from the bitter zone. A little too roasty and bourbony for my taste, but still delicious.

On tap @ Copper Kettle. Pours a dark brown appearance with a brown head. Roasted malty, burnt toast, anise, a bit smoky aroma. Light bourbon, a touch peaty smoky, black licorice, plum, fig flavor. OK.

On tap @ Copper Kettle. Black in color with a tan head. Nose is bourbon, oak, and dark fruit on the front. Coffee grounds, roasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. Decent chocolate notes. Flavor is lots of bitter dark chocolate and coffee grounds. Oak, mild bourbon, and vanilla. Plenty of roast, a touch of ash, and some dark fruit sweetness.

Tap. Near black with a tan head. Smells of bourbon, smoke and coffee. Flavor is sweet bourbon, roasted malt, light coffee and a subtle hot pepper. Medium bodied.
