Commercial Description:
In the early 20th century, Cincinnati was presided over by the strong armed political power broker George "Boss" Cox. Holding court high above an Over-The-Rhine saloon, "Boss" Cox's authoritative grip on the city could often be relaxed with a smoked sausage and a hearty brew. Our Double Dark IPA infuses a bold, delicious malty character with copious amounts of American and European hop bitterness. There's a new boss in town. Malts: 2-row, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel ;Hops: Cluster, Cascade, Czech Saaz ;Color: Ruby ;Food Complement: Steak, prime rib, venison, spicy dishes

This was a fine brew. 22oz sharde froma friend. Fairly dark and carameled colored with a solid and lasting head. The aroma is full of caramel and malt. Good stuff. The flavor is also good and makes me hapy to be an american. Caramel, candy, malt and some not so lacking hops. Best one yet from these guys

A rich transparent reddish brown, it generates a very thick and fluffy tan head when poured. Aroma is strong and hoppy, with a hint of spice and a touch of molasses. Flavor is mainly hoppy but surprisingly the bitterness level is low; there is a hint of sweetness. Texture is very smooth, and aftertaste has nice mix of hop bitterness and treacle-like sweetness.

pours dark brown with hearty beige head. Aroma is malty and bready with some dried fruit, not very hoppy. Flavor is smooth and sweet to begin, followed by a mild bitter hop presence and a bit of alcohol. Creamy and smooth body help this brew. If you are looking for an IPA look elsewhere, but if you are looking for an unique micro strong ale this one might be worth a try.

Bomber ($3.50) into pint glass. Great dark brown appearance with a rocky off-white head. Not as much hops but very sweet fruit and malt flavors. Flavor is strangely unbalanced; I liked a fews sips and hated others - one of the weirder beer experiences I have had. I think the extra dark malts just throw the balance off, or maybe more hops were needed. medium bodied on palate. Overall: wierd.

Pours clear brown with small brown head. Nose is malt, mostly caramel, no hops. Flavor is sweet caramel and molasses, very limited hops flavor, mild to moderate bitterness. Long caramel aftertaste. Really sweet, would have been cloying but I drank it alongside some chocolate cake.

Pours a clear deep ruby reddish brown with a small off-white head. Head lingers a little bit leaving only a trace of lacing. Smell is dominated by smeet malts with a bit of caramel. I only get the mildest hop aroma. Taste is a slightly stronger version of the smell. Big caramel malt taste up front with some fruits, maybe raisins, mixed in. The hops are present at the finish, but this is a really sugary sweet brew that doesn’t much resemble an IPA. Mouthfeel is smooth with moderate carbonation. There’s no hop bitterness that I can detect. This is a decent sweet malty beer that I have a hard time comparing to other IPAs. It’s drinkable enough but that’s about it.

Strong fruity and citrus aroma with a tandelizing mouth feel. Pours a thick strong brown color with a medium creamy head. Not as hoppy as I would like it but it delievers a good expectation of what a IPA should taste like. They say a double IPA, that might be how it is brewed, but I just don’t taste all that extra work they said when this was brewed, but it is good.
