merlin48 (354), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Sep 2, 2007 22 oz bottle pours a clear chestnut body with a large beige head. Aroma of grapefruity hops, chocolate, and caramel. Taste follows suit, with some roasty notes joining the grapefruit, caramel, and chocolate. Tasty and quite drinkable. A chocolate IPA?
AndyReynolds (67), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Sep 23, 2008 Tried on growler from Party Town. Pours a deep dark amber with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, with citrus and dark fruits. The flavor is very malty for an IPA, it also is sweeter than expect. The finish is bitter and hoppy though. A very good beer worth trying. WesKBob (167), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Sep 21, 2008 Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Sweet fruits and citrus hops in the aroma. Flavor is sweeter and maltier than you would expect from something calling itself an IPA, but it adds, rather than distracts, from the overall flavor. A decent amount of grapefruit hop flavor. It’s definitely an intriguing beer, and I give them credit for trying something different. lumpsowers (87), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Sep 18, 2008 Weak wine aroma, which is really the only detraction from this serious brew. Pours a dark copper with little head and no lacing. Flowery citrus hops with low caramel malt not quite in balance. Finishes strong with an alcoholic after. Decent brew, strong. Dastrn (68), Warsaw, Indiana, USA Sep 15, 2008 poured a cloudy brown with a very small tan head.
Smells sweet and malty.
Taste is bitter chocolate, mixing hops and malts really well.
Mouthfeel is perfect.
Overall VERY impressive. mcc5468 (43), USA Aug 21, 2008 Dark amber color. Appears to be a dark porter or a stout. Light head that dissapated quickly. Pine hop aroma with malt mixed in. Comple flavor of caramel and chocolate malt with some hops present. Alcohol is noticeable. More malts than hops. Not bad but this is for a "one beer" evening.
