Commercial Description:
In the early 20th century, Cincinnati was presided over by the strong armed political power broker George "Boss" Cox. Holding court high above an Over-The-Rhine saloon, "Boss" Cox's authoritative grip on the city could often be relaxed with a smoked sausage and a hearty brew. Our Double Dark IPA infuses a bold, delicious malty character with copious amounts of American and European hop bitterness. There's a new boss in town. Malts: 2-row, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel ;Hops: Cluster, Cascade, Czech Saaz ;Color: Ruby ;Food Complement: Steak, prime rib, venison, spicy dishes

20071025 Bomber. What’s it supposed to be, DIPA? Mild, not so hoppy. Thin but sweet. Piney late. Struck me as a bit weak.

Bomber. Poured clear deeper ruddy brown with a sticky, well-retained cap of beige head.. looked quite nice. The aroma picked up a rich sweetness that I really enjoyed (chocolates, toasted caramel, and treacle) with drier pine and dark citrus hoppage.. the focus was really on the malts here, and I dug it. The flavor wasn’t quite as solid.. lots of residual sugar in the form of caramel and toffee, which was amplified by some rough alcohol (especially at the back).. bitterness was moderate with some herbal and dark fruity presence (but a defining or well-balanced character was never achieved).. finished warm and bitter. Medium-bodied with low carbonation and a slow, building bitterness throughout.. better in the aroma than the flavor.

This was a fine brew. 22oz sharde froma friend. Fairly dark and carameled colored with a solid and lasting head. The aroma is full of caramel and malt. Good stuff. The flavor is also good and makes me hapy to be an american. Caramel, candy, malt and some not so lacking hops. Best one yet from these guys

A rich transparent reddish brown, it generates a very thick and fluffy tan head when poured. Aroma is strong and hoppy, with a hint of spice and a touch of molasses. Flavor is mainly hoppy but surprisingly the bitterness level is low; there is a hint of sweetness. Texture is very smooth, and aftertaste has nice mix of hop bitterness and treacle-like sweetness.

pours dark brown with hearty beige head. Aroma is malty and bready with some dried fruit, not very hoppy. Flavor is smooth and sweet to begin, followed by a mild bitter hop presence and a bit of alcohol. Creamy and smooth body help this brew. If you are looking for an IPA look elsewhere, but if you are looking for an unique micro strong ale this one might be worth a try.
