COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early Cincinnati brewers shipping their beers into Tennessee would generously hop their beer to prevent spoilage during the long, arduous trip over the Cumberland Trail. It’s been said that few barrels ever actually made it into Tennessee, as they were traded away for coonskin caps or simply enjoyed along the way! This classic India Pale Ale is a somewhat fruity brew, with an aggressive hop finish. To the hopheads of the world: we’ve brewed this one for you!

Draught - Moderate hoppy aroma. Clear amber hue with white frizzy head. Medium bitter flavor that was stronger at the finish.

I had this one last night, served to me by Mike Cromie , the brewpub's beermaster. Although it had a nice burst of Cascade hops to its flavor, there really wasn't any strong body behind it.

Delicious and fresh. Reddish color, beautiful frothy head, subdued but apparent carbonation. Great flavor and plenty of hops.

Good bite, very hoppy, stong bitter aftertaste.

Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. Draught Version: This was one of the better IPAs available at the festival. An excellent example of the style. Hops were present but not overly aggressive. Nitro Version: The flavor was warmer and more subdued out of the nitro tap and I actually enjoyed it more, although in that form it lost some of the typical IPA attributes. The hops were definitely present but masked. Very enjoyable.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2007 Not my favorite pale ale, but I’d never turn one down. It is not nearly as hop flavored as many other IPAs. It does have a hop bite to it.

Nothing too special here. It seems a little light in the hop profile to be an IPA in my book. Had it on tap at the brewery. Not a bad quaffer though.
