Creamy Chocolate Roast

Since the first batch, our people can’t get enough of this creamy, complex, drinkable stout. We crafted this unfiltered brew with oats for creaminess, lactose for sweetness, Belgian dark syrups for intense dark fruit notes, dark malts for a hint of chocolate and coffee roast, and just enough hops for an award winning bittersweet finish. The perfect beer made for the perfect moment.

Sample at the Tehachapi Beer & Wine Festival on 07/18/2015: Pours black with some ruby around the edges, and a medium tan head that diminishes gradually. Patches of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and hops. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, roasted coffee and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Deep dark brown with a dense two-finger khaki head and very nice lacing. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, roasted coffee and nuts. Flavor follows, with the bittersweet chocolate offset with a light bitterness from the roast and a touch of smoke. Medium body, creamy texture, minimal carbonation and a dry finish.

On tap at The Beer Baron. It pours dark brown with a thick, creamy khaki head. The aroma is very toasted with light coffee and cocoa. The flavor has some caramel, chocolate and a little sweet milk sugar. Kinda thin. Nice roasted chocolaty, coffee flavors.

Pour out 22 oz bottle, dark reddish black pour with thin khaki head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, dark sugars, toffee, some slight dark fruit, anise into a bit of spice. Taste was a mix of cocoa, dark chocolate, sweet sugars into a bit of caramelized sugars, slight oaty, lactose type note into some grass, spice, finishing slightly bitter, slightly sweet, nice mouthfeel for a low ABV beer.

Bottle. Nose is lightly grainy with some sweetness. Light coffee. Pitch black with a light tan head. Taste is very very husky with some harshness followed by a very sweet sugary sensation. A peppery tingle in the throat as it finished. Thin mouthfeel. Meh.

22oz bottle - Aroma - starts out as some overripe fruit or milk that has gone bad. After opening up a bit, the light roasted malts make an appearance. Some powdered chocolate too. Appearance - black body, 3-finger creamy dark tan head, above average retention, no lacing Mouthfeel - full bodied, light/medium carbonation Flavor - roasted malts, coffee creamer, a bit astringent, earthy Overall - a fine stout made better by a nice price.
