On tap pours with a slight head. Brown chestnut color. I'm not a brown ale aficionado but this does grow on me. First sip is transitory, aligning my taste buds for what is to come. Settles into a nice mellow ashen ride. Aftertaste is not smooth but I don't expect this from a brown ale.

tap at Alewife as part of the Nacho festival. Pours clear brown with white head. Nose of mlat and nuts. tastes lightly nutty, of resin, malt, earth, leather, and berries. Ok brown ale but a little light bodied

Growler from Brouwerij Lane. Pours a dark brown with mild head. Nice caramel and light malt aroma. Taste is a bit of sweet malts and hint of bitter. A very good brown ale, sort of like a darker newcastle.

English pint (tap) at Rattle N Hum with Erica. Pour is a dark brown - almost black - with minimal head. Aroma is nuts and chocolate and palate is more of the same, but with a roasted malty undertone that kind of takes over. Smoky and bold. Was never a huge fan of the brown style, and this beer is not delicate or balanced enough to get me to reconsider.

The aroma is nuts, toasted malt, chocolate. The appearance is translucent brown, off white head. The flavor is nutty, some chocolate. The finish is resiny hops, slight sweetness. Medium in body. Pretty good.

In short: A low intensity refreshing fruity nutty brown ale. Enjoyable.

The look: Almost clear mahogany body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose of nutty caramel. Taste is smooth and round. Medium body, smooth caramel, oily nuts, nice fresh refreshing tropical fruits notes, red apples, no bitterness to speak of. Basically it is a typical session brown ale with nice refreshing fruity flavors to make it very sessionnable. This is not a very tasty beer, if you drink this after an IPA and you won’t taste a thing, but as a session starter this was quite enjoyable. It was not even noon when I started drinking at Rattle’N’ Hum and drinking in New-York is quite expensive, especially in this economy. Oh well, desperate times call for excessive drinking.

Draft at Pony Bar. Pours a clear brown body with some creamy lacing. Aroma is typical brown ale - nice nutty malty notes. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of sweet malts.

On tap at Pony Bar. Poured a near clear brown with an off-white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had some roasted malts with some dark chocolate and a hint of dark bread as well. Flavor starts with chocolate but develops into more of a combination of roasted malt and dark bread. Easy drinking.
