3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2012 On draft at Alewife Queens, where part of the proceeds were going to help Barrier overcome serious damage from Hurricane Sandy. I hope they can do that and continue to release really interesting beers like this one! First of alI think Dementor is a terrible name for a beer - I wouldn’t want to drink a beer that makes me feel demented! If I wanted that, I could have a big glass of absinthe. Fortunately, it didn’t have an effect like that. This was called a sour black pumpkin ale, and lived up to its billing. There is a little malty sweetness, but not much - pumpkin, toasted grain, and cidery sourness dominate. Very original.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft sampled at Alewife Queens with Linh, Vi & Thi, Ken & Nicca. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is light spice, full roast and very light tart. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with decent carbonation and notes of spice, wood, roasted malts, cocoa, light tart. This came off as a bit unbalanced – and essentially no pumpkin flavor at all.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aromas of mostly roast with some chocolate, pumpkin spice, and a touch of tartness. Flavors of some sour tartness, little roast, not getting a lot of pumpkin spice still a nice beer.
