ben4321 (4093) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Location: Draft at Horace & Sylvia’s, 10/20/14

Aroma: It has a nice, fresh, hoppy aroma of pine and citrus, with some pale malts
Appearance: It pours a reddish-orange color with a small sheet of off-white head and decent lace
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, clean and hoppy, solidly bitter, with a light sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean mouthfeel, and a smooth, dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a nice one for sure. Another good IPA from Barrier. Would definitely order this again, as it drinks pretty nicely.

32oz growler I picked up at the Barrier tap room. Pours a clear orange with some sudsy, lacing white head. Nose has a lot of citrus, grapefruit, meyer lemon, plenty of pine too, soapy, a bit of fresh grass and some dried grass, some honey, some mild grainy notes. Flavor follows right along, sweet, malty, just a little bit of caramel, some mild pepper, but this is really dominated by the hops, grapefruit rind, some sticky orange juice, pine, soap. Sticky finish.

Funky, hempy citrus aroma. The initial taste is thin (it followed a DIPA) but beguiling, with dank hops and that characteristic rye flavor. Citrus and Slavic bread/yeast harmonies flesh out that basic structure as the glass warms. Very enjoyable.

Golden amber body, medium sized off-white head, spotty lacing. Grapefruit, dankness, pine, and spicy rye. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, lively bitterness.

Sample at the brewery. Pours a clean gold with medium, diminishing, white head. Nose of grapefruit, pine, rye, vegetal grassy drop hop character. Medium body, some nice rye spice character and medium bitterness on the finish.

On tap at Beer Culture, New York. Another good rye based beer. These are becoming more popular and tastier.

Cask at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn NY on 3rd July 2013. Hazy copper with lasting off white foam and initial lacing. Very hoppy aroma with some yeastiness. Intensely bitter in-mouth with spice and pepper, followed by a bittersweet finish with intense spiciness. Light, medium body. First Cask Ale I have sampled in the US.
