4.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Not your typical rye IPA, this is a smooth balance of grains, hops, and alchohol. Tasted on tap at TAP NY Festival, and its no wonder they took the Cup!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2013 Rerate at Bierkraft. Deep amber pour - thick white head. The nose is juicy and fresh - a lot of tropical citrus hops and a juicy mango/passion fruit character along with some nice bright bitterness. Fresh and delicious.
Tap at Dive Bar. Incredibly muddy pour. Opaque, muddy pour. Sort of a pale tan colour. The nose is actually pretty bright and hoppy. Lots of spicy pine character. A little bit of rye spice on the nose as well. Fresh toasty character with a nice assertive piny hoppiness. As the beer warms up a touch of light lemon peel works itself out of the back. Fairly resinous bitterness. Pretty tasty brew, despite the ugly pour.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler from Big Z - consumed while watching Paul and Larry brew a batch (I am polishing off the last of the growler now) - pours a lightly hazy straw color, with a thick, lasting, soapy head - oh yea, that aroma is nice - earthy hops abound with citrus and pine notes - lots of herbal character in the form of sage and mint - some underlying pale malt sweetness - fairly sticky malt base at first, laying down a sweetness for the intense hop and rye character to cling to across the palate - strong hop flavor (earth, wood, grapefruit) - toasty rye - nice body to it - strong, bitter, herbal component through the finish that lingers long through the finish, as does a pale malt sweetness - freakiní tasty.
