Leighton (9847) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2013
Growler from a keg at Beer Table Pantry, NYC. Pours hazy, pale yellow with a frothy white head. The nose has crispy white, subtle yeast. Light sweet flavor with lightly dried wheat, hints of yeasty bread, very mellow smoke notes, maybe touches of lemon rind. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Super clean and refreshing on the finish with more dry wheat, faint smoke, citrus rind, faint bitter hay. Lovely beer. Well balanced and super drinkable.

On draft at Proletariat. This is a wit brewed with a small percentage of peat smoked malt. Fairly dry & lightly astringent, with a little clove, coriander, and lemon peel. A good summer brew with a pleasant floral aroma.

Tap at Proletariat. Full haze straw pour. Webby, dense lacing. Fresh Berliner style nose with yogurt, lemon, baby powder, fresh diaper, vanilla. Taste is quite hoppy, herbal, bitter, yogurt and powder. Not very smoked but comes across as hoppy Berliner. Nice.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2012 Peat-smoked Belgian White. Growler from brewery. Very pale hazy beige with white head and lace. Mild coriander subtle smoke and fruity peach aroma. Mild spicy fruity wheaty tangy subdued sweetness and underlying smokiness with some lemony citrus. Clean tangy smokey finish. Nice light effervescent body. The whole thing comes together great, probably because I love smoke beer and Belgian wits. The perfect summer beer. Wish it was summer. Excellent and innovative. Love it.,
