HogTownHarry (3286), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Shared by me with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - via trade with jjpm74. Opaque black pour with an average creamy tan head. Dry, dry heavy roast malt aroma, some molasses, definite coffee grounds, and old leather. The taste is also very dry, heavily roasted, with an almost tobacco-like thick carbonized character. Slick, slightly acidic mouthfeel, no carbonation to speak of, but a long oily solid dry roast finish. Nice beer - freakin’ AMAZING aroma to this. GregClow (2351), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2008 Bottle shared with tupalev, blankboy, HogTownHarry & jerc - HogTownHarry’s bottle. Deep brown with ruby flashes and a wispy tan head. Delicious aroma - rich and roasty with deep chocolate malt and some hints of hops. Flavour is quite roasty, with notes of coffee and chocolate, with a mildly dry and sour edge. Really nice! blankboy (2627), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 26, 2008 Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours black with a small diminishing creamy light-brown head. Very roasty aroma, also dry and earthy along with nicotine, light green hops, chocolate and coffee - I love it! Flavour’s also very roasty along with coffee, caramel and chocolate. Dry, roasty / bitter finish. Medium bodied. Wow, this is really good stuff and better then I expected it to be. tupalev (2311), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 25, 2008 Bottle shared with Greg Clow, Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and Jerc, courtesy of Harry. Stunning aroma - some alcohol, lots of chocolate, lots of roast. Wow. Black, small brown head, looks great. Taste is alet down from those lofty heights - strong, roasty, and way to lactic for me. Good overall, but man, what a start... sloth (1538), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Jun 23, 2008 Draft at the pub. A nicely poured pint with a thin tan head, fair retention and just a little bit of spotty lace left behind. An almost black colored brew, though some brown edging is noticed. Nose of light roast, lightly dusty, caramel malts and coffe as well. Medium body, creamy on the palate, lightly oily. Pleasent roast flavors, a hint of cocoa and maybe some notes of vanilla as well, chocolatey flavors along with the roast, coffe and some berry notesl. Lightly sweet and roasty finish. Decent.
